Teachers carry the burden of sharing what they know with others. They have the onus of helping others learn. But, alas! They discover that what they teach doesn’t automatically get integrated into their own lives. Mental knowledge of the truth and its practice are not guaranteed companions. Yet, the best form of teaching remains an integrated life, one where the truths I share with others can be seen to be working in my life.
This notwithstanding, it remains to each one of us to cultivate our ability to perceive truth. Once we do, then we make an effort to integrate this truth in our lives no matter the agency by which this truth comes. Truth is truth no matter who teaches it, no matter how they live their own lives. After all, we may each find ourselves as teachers in one situation or another (as parents, leaders, community mobilisers, employers, etc).
May Jesus Christ grant us the grace to follow the Truth, without being distracted by the weaknesses of the teacher.
