The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda have approved Victoria University to teach Bachelor of Pharmacy, making the institution the sixth university in Uganda to offer the programme.
The other universities include Gulu University, Kampala International University (KIU), · Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Makerere University (Mak)
“We are thrilled to announce that Victoria University’s Bachelor of Pharmacy program has been accredited, making us the sixth university in Uganda to offer this distinguished program. This accreditation reaffirms our commitment to providing a top-tier health science education and equipping future pharmacists for successful careers with the support of a state-of-the-art Pharmacy Laboratory,” Victoria University announced on Friday.
“We invite prospective students to register and join us in advancing their careers,” they added.
The Vice Chancellor, Dr Lawrence Muganga, hailed the administration for attaining the accreditation.
“I commend our administration and the Faculty of Health Sciences for their hard work in obtaining this accreditation. Acknowledgment is also due to the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) for their forward-thinking, and to the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda for their pivotal role in ensuring a seamless accreditation process, ultimately promoting excellence in Uganda’s pharmaceutical education,” he said.
“The future shines brightly, and @VUKampala’s zeal for fostering a supportive learning environment, driving innovation, and meeting healthcare needs, both locally and globally, has never been stronger,” he added.
This comes weeks after NCHE accredited Victoria University Uganda to teach seven new academic programmes, including the coveted post graduate diploma in education.
NCHE said Victoria University, known for pioneering experimental teaching, can now can now offer the programmes but with a limitation to the number of students for each.
The programmes are Bachelor of Education in Primary Education (75 students), Bachelor of Business Administration (80), Bachelor of International Business (80), Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (30), Bachelor of Science in Business Computing and Data Analytics (50), Postgraduate Diploma in Education (20) and Bachelor of Procurement and Logistics Management (50).
