Readings: Acts 10:34a, 37-43. Col 3:1-4. Jn 20:1-9
The world is replete with evil. So many things don’t go the way they should go (at least according to us). Those we expect to be leaders disregard the truth for convenience, expediency or personal benefit (even when this involves killing innocent people). Our hopes and dreams are severally (or even perennially) shattered. Those we trust turn out to be betrayers. We ourselves don’t measure up to our own standards, let alone objective ideals.
Jesus Christ, the one who died and rose again, shows us that beyond life, there’s Life. This is not just a consolation in the difficulties and realities of life, rather it’s encouragement and a challenge. Knowing that there’s Life beyond life challenges us to live this life fully and well, according to the imperatives of Life. To live well with humanity and the whole of created reality. To transcend evil, even as we promote goodness in as many ways as possible.
May the Risen Jesus Christ break through into your particular situation with His dynamic power.
