Hoima District council on Saturday paid tribute to the late LCV Chairperson Kadiri Kirungi, describing him as a humble leader who embraced unity and tolerance.
Kirungi, 47, was killed in a road accident along Hoima-Kampala Road. The accident happened on Friday night at around 10pm at Mataagi village, Bukomero town council in Kiboga district.
He died alongside his body guard identified as police constable Bosco Otim 25 attached to Hoima central police station.
Kirungi was driving a vehicle registration number UAH 053Q Prado and was heading to Kampala. His car reportedly collided with a Fuso truck registration number UBB 059Z that was loaded with bricks.
In a special council sitting held at the district held quarters in Kasingo chaired by the Speaker Swaib Nyangabyaki, councillors eulogized Kirungi describing him as leader who exhibited cordial working relationship with both the political wing and the technocrats to improve service delivery.
Allen Kabagire and John Kwemera, councillors representing Kijongo and Kisukuma sub counties respectively applauded Kirungi for being an open-minded leader who promoted career growth adding that he had a talent of tolerance and inclusiveness amidst challenges in his leadership career.
Jackson Mugenyi Mulindambura, the District Secretary for Production and Natural Resources said that Kirungi was a tolerant leader who worked with people he disagreed with, exhibiting the spirit of unity and team work.
Mulindambura further described the deceased as a tolerant, humble, exceptional and sober man who has been bringing uniting people.
Geofrey Kumakech, the LCV Councilor for Buseruka sub county says that Kirungi loved peace and reconciliation amidst challenges adding that he was a mentor and unifier.
Aliba Kiiza the Chairperson Microfinance Support Center revealed that during his time of office Kirungi spoke openly about issues that concerned the people of Hoima adding that he was a leader who consulted before taking any decision.
Badru Mugabi, the Hoima Resident city commissioner-RCC described Kirungi as an obedient, humble and above all a leader who loved togetherness.
Amlan Tumusiime, the Kikuube Resident District Commissioner-RDC who is also Kirungi’s brother, appreciated the council for the good working relation with the former chairperson for the time he has been in office.
He described the deceased as a person who was easy to work with adding that his legacy will carry on.
Kirungi will be laid to rest on Sunday at his home in Buswekera in Hoima City.
