SC Villa made a perfect start to the 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season by beating Gaddafi FC 2-0 on Sunday, October 2 at Wankulukuku stadium.
Gift Fred and Andrew Waiswa (own goal) scored the goals for Villa in either half of the game. Villa, who are the 16-time record Ugandan league champions, fought relegation for much of last season and a great start to this term is heart-warming to the Jogoos’ fans.
With the victory, SC Villa joined KCCA FC, BUL FC and Maroons FC who were also winners on match-day one in the games played on Saturday (October 1) evening.
KCCA defeated Wakiso Giants 3-2 while BUL and Maroons thumped Blacks Power and Busoga United 5-0 respectively.
Defending champions Vipers SC were held to a goal-less draw by Bright Stars FC at home on Friday, September 30.
