WESTERN UGANDA: Detectives from Kagadi central police station are searching for unidentified thugs behind the brutal murder of 61-year-old Benon Bakaine in Kahuuniro cell Paacwa town council in Kagadi district.
Bakaine was killed in cold blood on Tuesday night on his way home. His lifeless body was found lying a few meters from his home at around 9:50 pm with deep cuts on the forehead. Emmanuel Sengonzi, the Deputy CID Officer at Kagadi central police station, says that two suspects are in police custody to help with investigations.
Elina Kyakuhaire, the LC I Chairperson of Kahuuniro Cell, says the deceased was last seen around 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening charging his smartphone in Paacwa Trading Center and was shocked to hear that he had been murdered.
Charles Kobwemi, Paacwa town council district male councilor, has expressed concern over the increasing cases of mob justice. He has asked police to expedite investigations to ensure the culprits are arrested and prosecuted for murder.
Justus Businge, the LC 3 chairperson of the Paacwa Town Council, has cautioned relatives of the deceased against revenge, saying this will cause more problems. He has asked residents to help police with information that will lead to the arrest of the prime suspects.
