The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party has launched a nationwide registration drive aimed at enrolling their supporters into their national party register.
NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi launched the exercise at their headquarters in Makerere, Kavule on Monday
Party Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya said registrars from all constituencies and focal persons for all districts have been trained for the exercise.
Rubongoya said the NUP Membership Card may be bought from the relevant Registrar at a nominal fee of UGX 1,000.
Bobi Wine rallied the registrars to be transparent, incorruptible, and active in their respective areas of operation.
He urged the registrars to perform their role with courage, diligence, and fairness; and to avoid infighting by always putting the interests of the people ahead of their interests.
The party president further reminded them that just like NUP is the political wing of the People Power movement, they are the Organising Wing of NUP. He said this means they have the unenviable task of harnessing the massive support for change countrywide into a potent force that will ultimately take the ruling party out of power and set the stage for building a new Uganda where freedom and opportunity abound.
