Mbarara City is set to host a big education expo and back to school bonanza due to take place from September 7th to 10th at Kakyeka Stadium.
The four-day expo will run under the theme: ‘Exploring Opportunities in the Education Sector.’
According to Mr Edmund Bashaasha, the Chief Organiser, the expo provides a platform for dissemination of credible educational information to the public.
It will also create an environment for universities, researchers, scholars, research institutions and different groups of persons to meet and deliberate on the various education thematic areas.
Mr Bashaasha said it will also strengthen digital innovation in the education system and help to explore more opportunities to enhance the digital agenda.
“It seeks to drive home the linkage between education and work. To deliver value to stakeholders across all levels of the education sector, this expo has been structured to bring together actors and their products and services for the pre-primary (kindergarten), primary schools, secondary schools, vocational and all tertiary institutions, including universities,” he said.
Mr Bashaasha also said there will be training sessions delivered by various experts on key areas such as parenting and career guidance, the new lower secondary school curriculum and other reforms in the sector.
“Curriculum reform is a matter of national concern and people should be well versed with the direction and the vision of changing the way we learn, assess and certify the achievements; people need to know why marks are no longer more important than what the grades stand for in terms of skills,” he added.
The expo targets international schools, vocational institutions, study abroad agencies, government, NGOs, secondary schools, universities, kindergartens/day care centres, primary schools, telecoms, banks, insurance, SME service providers, uniforms suppliers and different vendors.
Those seeking to participate in the expo are urged to book early in advance, paying between UGX 1000,000, UGX500,000 and UGX200,000 for a 100-seater tent, UGX500,000 for a 50-seater tent and 200,000 for exhibition space with in shared space.
