Police in Kira Division, Wakiso District, are investigating circumstances under which a 26-year-old man was shot and injured as he attempted to sneak into the family home of his girlfriend.
The incident took place on Sunday at around 3am.
According to police spokesman Fred Enanga, as Ddiro Michael, a 26-year-old boda boda rider, was attempting to scale the wall so as to visit Namata Margret.
Namata, 26, stays in the home of Kaweesi Rosette, a staff at Mukono General Hospital. The home is located in Bbuto.
Enanga said the family immediately called the police at Bbuto, who responded to the disturbance call.
“They found a man trying to climb over the wall fence, and shot him on the left leg, they arrested him immediately after,” he said.
He said the circumstances clearly show that the victim knew the home and could have gained access into it.
“We urge such young adults to avoid such risky behaviours, especially at night. We would like to warn young adults in relationships that sneaking into your partners home or family home, is dangerous, because they can easily be perceived to be a strangers or suspected criminals, with a potential threat of harming the victims,” he said.
The victim is out of danger and recovering well, Enanga said.
