TotalEnergies unveils Joshua Cheptegei as Brand Ambassador, commits Shs150 million to support his foundation

TotalEnergies Marketing Uganda on Friday unveiled Joshua Cheptegei as its brand ambassador for its renewable energy solutions and gone ahead to contribute Shs150 million to the Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation to support its efforts in sustainably improving the lives of the children and the community in the areas in which the Foundation works.

This was done at the signing ceremony of a three-year term Tri-partite agreement among TotalEnergies Marketing Uganda, Joshua Cheptegei, and the Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation as evidence of TotalEnergies’ commitment to supporting child and youth education and empowerment at the grass root level, supporting sports, and protecting the environment.

In addition to the cash contribution, solar lamps, fruit trees and full sets LPG cylinders worth Shs38.1 million were given in kind as prizes for the winners of the different categories during the annual Joshua Cheptegei Xmas run on 17th of December 2022.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr. Daniel Mayieka, the managing director of TotalEnergies Marketing Uganda, said: ‘So, I thank the Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation for accepting to partner with us and I look forward to the great things we will do together including tomorrow’s Joshua Cheptegei Xmas run. For tomorrow’s run [Saturday, December 17] we shall be contributing 42 solar lamps and 42 full set 3kg LPG cylinders and 42 fruit tree seedlings to the winners of the different categories as our way to providing a sustainable lighting solution for the children participating in the run; saving the trees around their homes from being cut down for charcoal by providing an alternative and better solution called cooking gas; and contributing to food and nutrition for the children and their families.”

He added further that TotalEnergies would be making an additional donation of 150 solar lamps to the P.6 and P.7 class pupils of the Joshua Cheptegei Primary School in recognition of the invaluable contribution teachers make to children’s lives and their futures.

TotalEnergies is a global multi-energy company that produces and markets energies: oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables, and electricity.
