Justice Keitirima voted president of East African Judges Association

Uganda has been elected to lead the East African Magistrates and Judges Association for 2022-2024. Justice John Eudes Keitirima, who was unopposed, was voted as President of the Association. He has been serving as the Vice President of the Association.

Other members of Council from Uganda are HW Stella Paculal Okwong (Magistrate Grade I Entebbe) as Deputy General Secretary while Justice Tadeo Asiimwe President Uganda Judicial Officers Association and HW Natukunda Janeva (DR Land Division) were elected as Council members.

This was on Thursday, 10 November 2022, at the ongoing 19th East African Magistrates and Judges Association Conference and General Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.

The outgoing President of the regional Judicial Officers body, Sophia Wambura from Tanzania handed over to him in a ceremony witnessed by Rwandan Chief Justice, Dr Faustin was agreed that Uganda hosts the 2023 EAMJA Conference and General Meeting.

The mission of the Association is to promote, enhance and protect the rule of law, and accessibility to justice for all, through harmonization of the judicial systems and the development of the capacities of judicial officers in East Africa.

Judicial Officers from the Ugandan Judiciary on the sidelines of the ongoing 19th East African Magistrates and Judges Association Conference and General Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda visited Kigali Genocide Memorial Grounds at Nyanza and Gisozi.
