KAMPALA: Haji Muhamood Mirundi, the father of Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has died.
Lukwago announced the sad news on his Twitter handle on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
“My beloved Father and mentor, Hajji Muhamood Mirundi, has passed on. Inna lillahi wa inna illaihi raji’oon. Fare thee well Taata. Till we meet, weraba Taata wange omulungi,” said Lukwago in a post on his social media.
Dr. Kizza Besigye, who is Lukwago’s friend, added: “Tragic news: The father of Lord Mayor, Ssalongo Erias Lukwago, passed on this afternoon at Masaka Hospital. Burial expected to take place tomorrow in Kabungo village, Kalungu District. Inna Lillahi wa Inna illahi raj’un.”
He will be laid to rest on Wednesday at 2:00 pm in Kabungo, Kalungu District.
Shortly after the announcement, more tributes poured in.
Paul Musasizi tweeted: “We thank the Lord for his life and we thank Mzee Muhamood for raising a son who is profitable to this nation. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
Kabenge Ahmed added: “Innalillahi waina iraihi rajuna, Allah bless him and his family! May Allah strengthen the family of the deceased, his friends and companions. Amen”
Maraka John Peter said: May his soul Rest In Peace,may God strengthen the Lord Mayor and the all family.
Cooper Elijah said: May Allah find favour in him and comfort the family of our Lordship the mayor.
