Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has said he is fine after a helicopter he was flying in was forced into an emergency landing in Bushenyi District after developing a mechanical fault.
Tayebwa was coming from an introduction or Kuhingira of the daughter of Dr Silver Mugisha, the NWSC Managing Director, on Saturday evening when the accident happened. The plane is said to have crash-landed.
Everyone on the helicopter was rescued without any injury.
“Hon colleagues, we got an incident yesterday with our flight from Bushenyi yesterday, but we are all ok back to our homes. All is good. We continue to serve a living God. Thanks all for your prayers and messages of goodwill,” Thomas Tayebwa posted in a WhatsApp group of MPs on Sunday morning.
The incident is a stark reminder of the aviation challenges in the country where several helicopters are increasingly getting involved in accidents
