Former champions URA FC have beaten Vipers SC 2-0 in a Uganda Premier League match played this afternoon Saturday, November 27 at St Mary’s stadium Kitende.
Joachim Ojera and Cromwell Rothomio scored URA’s goals in either half to sink Vipers at home.
The tax collectors should now derive as much confidence as possible after stopping Vipers, one of the title favourites.
The loss to URA ends Vipers’ unbeaten run in six matches. Vipers, however, remain second on the table with 13 points, six below leaders KCCA FC.
URA remain in seventh position with 10 points.
Meanwhile, in earlier games played on Friday, November 26, the traditional VEK (SC Villa, Express FC and KCCA FC) giants celebrated victories in their outings.
SC Villa beat Onduparaka FC 2-1, thanks to goals by Salim Abdallah and Isaac Ogwang in the first half of the game played at Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru. Mohammed Shaban gave visiting Onduparaka a short-lived lead in the first 10 minutes. This is Villa’s second victory in six matches so far.
At Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku, hosts Express FC, who are also the defending champions, beat Wakiso Giants 1-0, with Eric Kambale converting a first-half penalty kick.
And in Arua, striker Davis Kasirye continued his scoring run as he netted KCCA FC’s solitary winner after 35 minutes to condemn hosts Arua Hill to their first loss at home.
