KAMPALA: Action in the Uganda Premier League resumes tomorrow (November 26) with Matchday 7 games at various venues in the country.
Of the eight games lined up, Vipers SC hosting URA FC in a clash of former champions at St Mary’s stadium in Kitende, will be the highlight of this round of matches. That highly-billed match is scheduled for Saturday, November 27. Kick-off is 3pm.
On paper, and in the six games played thus far, both Vipers and URA have lived up to the pre-season hype. However, their clash on Saturday presents a real test to Vipers, whose owner Lawrence Mulindwa spent massively on players and bringing a foreign coach (Brazilian Roberto Oliviera) in the preseason transfers window.
By splashing his money on the players and coach, Mulindwa expects his expensively-assembled club to win the league title, but URA, too, invested heavily and wants the same crown. It is against such prospects that set the tone for Saturday’s game at Kitende.
Vipers have had an impressive start to the season, winning four out five games. They have one draw (2-2 with Express FC) thus far while URA have won twice, lost and drawn once apiece in four games.
Meanwhile, SC Villa will be out to recover from Tuesday’s 0-1 loss to BUL FC when they host Onduparaka FC tomorrow (November 26) at Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru. The Jogoos have only one win in five games.
