WEST NILE: A training on patriotism was given to over 200 students from universities and tertiary institutions in the West Nile Region.
The National Secretariat for Patriotic Corps-NSPC held a three-day training at Nunu Primary School in Ayivu Division, Arua City, on January 29-30. The program aims to instill a sense of national pride in the youth.
One of the facilitators, Lt. Col. Arthur Mutebi, said the students learned about Uganda’s history and how they could help alter the country. He stated that forces exist to mislead the youth towards unproductive activities, thus the necessity to educate them.
According to Arua’s internal security chief, Mohamed Kabo, more youth must be trained in patriotism to improve their attitudes towards Uganda. He claims anti-government elements are targeting youth.
The NSPC commissioner, Brigadier General Patrick Mwesigye, emphasized that for Uganda to evolve, individuals must change their thinking.
When the potential of the youth is exploited, it can push the economic change of the country, stated Maj. Gen Felix Kulayigye after the closing of the training.
Some participants indicated that if young people worked together, they could overcome obstacles and seize possibilities.
In addition to Arua and Kuluva School of Nursing, the trainees came from Muni University and MUBS Arua.
