One of the elderly pastors and members of the Christ Disciple’s Church (CDC) who left Uganda for Ethiopia over alleged missionary work has died.
William Ojangole alias Obama, formerly a resident of Owarakwap Village in Kadungulu Sub County- Serere district died on Saturday evening after suffering a heart attack early in the day. Ojangole had reportedly woken up well on Saturday and had prayed and fasted for a half day.
At around 4 p.m., he reportedly refreshed and had a meal after breaking the fast. Joseph Okuda, one of his sons says that the old man reportedly developed some complications while having a meal.
“He looked very fine in the morning until evening when he concluded the fasting session. Mama noticed that he was not fine but decided to serve him food. He ate briefly and ran to the toilet where he collapsed,” Okuda said in a phone interview. He added that the family members found him unconscious and passed on before getting treatment at around 7 p.m.
According to Okuda, his father was buried on Sunday morning since the condition couldn’t allow the family to repatriate his remains. He adds that before the burial, they noticed that blood was oozing from the nose and mouth of the deceased while the stomach swelled so fast to enable long travel back to Uganda.
Ojangole and a group of more than 200 Christians belonging to the Christ Disciple’s Church in Serere and Ngora districts sneaked into Ethiopia in February this year. Information within the circles of CDC members indicated that the Christians were fleeing from doom’s day that was allegedly befalling Uganda.
However, it later emerged that the Christians were on a mission to transform the Ateker community in Ethiopia. Since then, little has been revealed about the welfare or purpose of the journey by the “missionaries’ to Ethiopia by the Ugandan authorities.
Those who traveled to Ethiopia sold their property including land, houses and vehicles to facilitate their movement and stay in Nyangatom.
