Vipers booked their place in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final against Police FC despite losing 0-1 to Bright Stars on Tuesday, May 30 in the return leg of the semifinal tie.
Nelson Senkatuka scored the lone goal to inflict defeat on the newly-crowned Uganda Premier League champions Vipers at the Kavumba Recreational ground.
However, the Kitende-based side advanced to the final on 4-1 aggregate score.
This is after Vipers thrashed Bright Stars 4-0 in the first leg game played last week at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
Accordingly, Vipers will now play Police FC in the Uganda Cup final slated for Saturday, June 3 at the Akii-Bua Memorial stadium in Lira.
Police FC eliminated Adjumani TC on away goal rule after a 2-2 aggregate score to reach the final.
The final between Vipers and Police promises fireworks as stakes are high for either side; Vipers are desperate to win their first-ever domestic league and cup double while Police will be eyeing their maiden Uganda Cup trophy.
This is Vipers’ third consecutive appearance in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final.
