SC Villa’s title campaign gained more momentum on Tuesday, April 4 after their 1-0 victory over Bright Stars put them four points clear of second-placed KCCA FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League race.
Charles Bbaale was the goal hero for the Jogoos, scoring the lone winner in the second half of the closely-contested match the Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
Villa, who last won the league title in 2004, now lead the 15-team table with 40 points from 20 games. KCCA are second with 36 points from 17 games. The Lugogo-based Kasasiro Boys, however, have a chance to cut Villa’s lead back to one point by beating Blacks Power FC on Wednesday (April 5) afternoon at the Akii-Bua stadium in Lira.
In other games played Tuesday, Onduparaka FC shocked BUL FC 2-0 at Green-light stadium in Arua while army side UPDF FC overpowered Arua Hill 3-1 at the Bombo Military Barracks playground.
Gaddafi FC and Busoga United shared spoils after settling for a goalless draw at the Kakindu stadium in Jinja.
