Morocco, one of Africa’s five representatives to the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, picked up a morale-boasting point from Croatia after a one-all draw in their opening Group F game on Wednesday, November 23.
The North African side appeared timid in front of goal, with very few scoring chances created in the game, but they defended well against Croatia, who were losing finalists at the last World Cup in Russia 2018.
It is a good result for Morocco, who will go into their remaining two group games against Belgium and Canada with more confidence as they push for a place in the last-16.
None of Africa’s representative has won a game at this tournament so far; Senegal lost 0-2 to The Netherlands on Monday while Tunisia drew (0-0) with Denmark on Tuesday. Cameroon and Ghana are due to play their first games on Thursday, November 24.
