Saudi Arabia, one of the pre-tournament underdogs, shocked hot favourites Argentina with a 2-1 victory on Tuesday, November 22 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup Finals in Qatar.
Lionel Messi gave Argentina the lead from the penalty spot in the first half but Saudi Arabia hit back through goals by Saleh Al-Shehri and Salem Al-Dawsari in the second half.
This is the biggest upset at this World Cup thus far.
It is also a repeat of events for Argentina, who were also stunned 1-0 by Cameroon at the 1990 World Cup Finals in Italy. Like this Argentina side with a famous face of Messi, back then Argentina had Diego Maradona and they were the defending champions.
