KCCA v Vipers
All eyes will be on the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo when KCCA FC host Vipers SC in the top-of-the-table StarTimes Uganda Premier League clash on Saturday, April 16.
Table leaders Vipers, with 55 points from 23 games and nine points clear, could virtually seal the title if they beat their closest challengers in KCCA in that game.
On the other hand, KCCA are in a must-win situation if they are to keep the title dream alive. In their recent games, coach Morley Byekwaso’s Kasasiro Boys have been unconvincing, winning just once in five matches.
Vipers, in comparison, have put on a five-match winning run and they look unstoppable but in football anything can happen. In their last five meetings in the league, Vipers have been KCCA twice, drawn twice and KCCA won once; thus recent history favours the Venoms.
It is against background that both KCCA and Vipers’ fans will be on tenterhooks when the two teams meet in the highly-billed game on Saturday.
URA SACK COACHES
Meanwhile, following their loss 0-3 to Vipers in their own backyard on Tuesday (April 12), URA FC sacked members of the backroom staff leaving, head coach Sam Timbe alone.
In a statement issued Friday (April 15), URA confirmed they parted ways with assistant coaches Simeon Masaba, Robert Mukasa, Edward Ssali and Steven Billy Kiggundu.
The quartet worked under Timbe but the relationship tour a sour turn recently when they were accused of insubordination. Timbe has been tasked to take charge of the remaining five games.
Currently, URA are third on the 16-team table with 43 points from 25 games.
