KIBOGA: The Wamala region public relations officer, ASP. Racheal Kawala said officers identified as; Cpl Nsubuga Francis and SPC Ddimba Paul were seated at Nakasozi police post, in Kiboga District, when a gang of four armed men, dressed in civilian attire attacked and murdered them.
Nakawala in a statement said the territorial police in Kiboga registered a serious incident of a double murder of police officers and the aggravated robbery of their guns. The unfortunate incident happened on Thursday, December 16 at around 7.30 pm.
She noted that this is the second kind of attack within nine days, targeting police officers and their guns.
“We have dispatched our teams from the Flying squad unit, to team up with the territorial police and ensure the suspects are identified and brought to justice,” Nakawala said, noting that the motive of the suspects is not yet determined, but details will be released once they are available.
A similar incident occurred in the Mityana district, where two police officers CPL Alfred Okech and PC Moses Kigongo were murdered and their guns robbed on December 7, 2021, at around 4.00 pm, at Sebobo village in Sekanyonyi Town Council.
Kawala, said the officers were responding to an alleged complaint by two victims who had claimed they had been robbed of proceeds from their tomato business. They reportedly informed the two officers that they had arrested one of the suspects and the public wanted to lynch him prompting the officers to rush to rescue them but as fate may have it, they were killed and their guns taken.
