KAMPALA: Annette Kiconco, a survivor in the Komamboga terror attack, has been readmitted to Mulago National Referral Hospital on the directive of police.
Kiconco, who was discharged at National Referral Hospital, Mulago last month when she still had fragments in her body, ran to the media seeking well-wishers to give her money to get better treatment.
Police spokesman Fred Enanga on Monday said the Directorate of Police Health Services traced her following the story.
Police said they have talked to the management of the National Referral Hospital, Mulago, treat her on their bill until she recovers.
Last month, Kampala Report published a story of Rose Nakisita, 29, another
survivor of the bomb blast at Komamboga in Kampala who was appealing to government to enable her pay medical bills.
Nakisita, 29, a single mother and waitress at the pork joint, said she had been discharged from hospital despite not yet feeling well because she could not afford the bills.
Nakisita sustained serious injuries on her arm, abdomen and legs after she had been hit by the fragments from the improvised device.
Nakisita who lives in Bumbu-Kiteezi, Kasangati town council, Wakiso district, said that she could not continue receiving treatment at Doctors Clinic due to lack of funds.
According to Nakisita, it was her boss who contributed 333,000 Shillings for the medical bills.
She adds that she still feels pain and requires more treatment which she can’t afford.
Royce Kabogoza, the Defence Secretary Kiteezi, said that they had started a door to door fundraising drive to get money and take Nakisita to the hospital for further treatment.
He wants Nakisita and the other survivors of the bomb blast to be compensated.
The improvised explosive device or IED was detonated at Uncle Sam’s and Ronnie’s Pork joints at about 9pm, killing waitress Emily Nyinaneza, 20, and injuring scores.
