Readings: Gen 9:8-15. 1Pt 3:18-22. Mk 1:12-15
Oftentimes, we’re tempted to be, do, or have what we shouldn’t be, do or have. We move in ways that are contrary to our nature and our purpose. One temptation is to imagine that doing the right things will always lead to positive results, and with no hardships. That if we’re nice, others will be equally nice. That if we’re doing God-ordained work, we won’t face opposition.
Our experience shows us that no matter how good we may be, no matter how well intentioned we may be, no matter how purposeful we may be, the difficulties will always be there. There will be attempts to distract us from our purpose. Remaining focused on our God-ordained purpose assures us of divine assistance, regardless of the difficulties. Angels will still minister to you regardless of the ferocious attacks from Satan and the wild beasts.
May Jesus Christ grant us the grace to continually overcome the temptation to be distracted from our God-ordained purpose.
