Five-time former world champions Brazil turned on the style as they thumped South Korea 4-1 on Monday (December 5) night to reach the quarterfinals of the ongoing FIFA World Cup Finals in Qatar.
The Samba Boys, as Brazil team is nicknamed, went on a four-goal blitz in the first half with Vinicius Junior, Junior Neymar, Andrade Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta scoring in the one-sided opening 45 minutes of the game.
With such an emphatic victory, Brazil remain hot favourites and move into the quarterfinals where they will play Croatia, the 3-1 post-match penalty winners over Japan earlier on Monday.
Japan and Croatia drew one-all after 120 minutes before the game was decided on penalties.
The round-of-16 games conclude Tuesday with Morocco, the only surviving African representative in the tournament, taking on former champions Spain. Portugal, led by veteran Cristiano Ronaldo, take on Switzerland in the other game on Tuesday night.
