SC Villa, smarting from back-to-back defeats at the hands of KCCA FC and Vipers SC, will be seeking to recover when they host Maroons FC in one of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) games scheduled for on Sunday, December 4.
The game will be played at the Akii-Bua Memorial stadium in Lira behind closed doors, meaning no fans are allowed in to watch as Villa serves a five-match home ban imposed on the club recently by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel over acts of hooliganism.
On November 29, Villa lost 0-2 to Vipers at Kitende. Two days earlier, the Jogoos were thrashed 3-0 by KCCA in Lira.
The back-to-back losses came after a boardroom decision by FUFA’s Disciplinary Panel to dock Villa two points and two goals over acts of hooliganism exhibited by the club’s fans during a league match against Wakiso Giants two weeks ago.
SC Villa are now eighth on the 16-team league table standings, with 14 points from 10 games. They are eight points off the pace, with leaders KCCA FC at 22 points.
In the other match on Sunday, defending champions Vipers travel to Jinja where they take on Gaddafi Modern FC in a tricky tie at Kakindu stadium.
In recent weeks, Vipers (third with 20 points from nine games) have enjoyed a rich vein of form that has seen them win four consecutive games. The Venoms, as Vipers are nicknamed, face Gaddafi whose home record has so far been impressive this season.
For instance, Gaddafi (nineth on the table with 12 points) have won their last two games at home.
