The National Basketball League (NBL) final play-offs come to an end on Friday (October 14) night in what promises to be an epic finale at the Lugogo indoor stadium.
In both the women’s and men’s championship title race, the best-of-seven series are tied at 3-3, so the winner of Game Seven in either category will be the champion.
It has been a see-saw affair in the men’s race where defending champions City Oilers, seeking an eighth title in a row, were stretched to the maximum by debutant Namuwongo Blazers in the last six games.
Oilers beat Blazers 60-53 in game one, before the series were leveled in game two 71-60. Oilers then won game three 70-68 and game four 77-74, before Blazers fought back in game five and six 70-65 and 76-71 respectively.
In the women’s series, it’s the JKL Dolphins against UCU Lady Canons. The Dolphins won game one 60-50 and game two 60-52, to take a 2-0 lead.
The Canons won game three 67-62, before JKL won game four 59-50 for a 3-1 lead. But in game five and six, the Canons turned the tables with 62-48 and 69-57 wins respectively.
With the series level in either title race, there’s all to fight for in the deciding game seven as any of the four teams can win the championship.
