MASINDI: Kijunjuba Primary School has halted the construction of two classroom blocks and staff quarters at Kijunjuba Primary School, citing poor quality bricks. This school is located in Kijunjubwa parish, Kimengo subcounty, Masindi district of Western Uganda.
The government contracted Muziira Goodies construction company limited to undertake the work valued at Sh 48 million. However, before the construction could begin this month, the RDC visited the construction site and discovered that more than 2,000 bricks ferried by the contractor to kickstart the work were of poor quality.
The bricks had multiple cracks, forcing the RDC to halt the construction until the contractor got good quality bricks. According to Ngabirano, he could not allow the work to continue using poor quality bricks yet the government is injecting a lot of money into the project.
He warned contractors executing government projects in the district to ensure quality work. Ngabirano also tasked the public to monitor and own government projects by reporting any shoddy work for immediate action.
URN could not get a comment from Muziira Goodies construction company limited as our repeated calls to the company’s officials went unanswered.
