KCCA FC squandered another chance to reduce SC Villa’s lead to three points after settling for a 1-1 draw with UPDF FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League match played on Easter Sunday (April 9) at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
The draw, KCCA’s second in a row, means Villa have a five-point advantage in the league title race. SC Villa, who are vying to win the league title after 19-year spell, top the 15-team log with 43 points from 21 games. KCCA are second with 38 points from 19 games.
Despite having two games in hand, KCCA’s recent performance is far from convincing that they could catch up with a Villa side that has fired on all cylinders in this title race.
For instance, KCCA conceded an injury-time equalizer in Sunday’s game when Douglas Oyirwoth scored for the army side UPDF. Congolese import Tshungu Kankonde’s second-half goal seemed to have wrapped up maximum points for the hosts under floodlights until Oyirwoth struck at the death.

In the other game played on Easter Sunday, Arua Hill held former champions URA FC to a goalless draw at the Barifa stadium.
The league continues on Easter Monday, April 10 with Busoga United hosting Arua-based Onduparaka FC at Kakindu stadium in Jinja.
