SC Villa defeated Wakiso Giants 3-1 on Saturday, April 8 to extend their lead to six points in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title race.
The Jogoos, as Villa are fondly nicknamed; now lead the 15-team log with 43 points from 21 games compared to second-placed KCCA FC on 37 points from 18 matches.
However, KCCA have a chance to cut Villa’s lead to three points if they beat army side UPDF FC on Easter Sunday, April 9 at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
In the match played Wakiso Giants’ home ground, the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium, visiting Villa rallied from a goal down to triumph. Charles Bbaale scored twice and Umar Lutalo added the other for Villa. Sharip Kimbowa had put Wakiso Giants in the lead in the sixth minute of the first half.
Meanwhile, defending champions Vipers SC returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory Blacks Power FC in a game played under floodlights at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

This is Vipers’ first league win under coach Alex Isabirye, and their first in the second round of the competition, thanks to goals by Karim Ndugwa and Martin Kizza.
The champions moved from fourth to third place on the table, with 32 points from 17 games.
In the other match played Saturday, former champions Express FC were winners after beating BUL FC 2-1 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
The victory takes Express FC to tenth position from eleventh, with 25 points from 20 games.
Action continues on Easter Sunday, April 9 with two games on the card; Arua Hill host former champions URA FC at the Barifa stadium while KCCA welcome UPDF in the late kick-off game at Lugogo.
