Ugandan clubs, Vipers SC and BUL FC, kicked off their continental campaign on a positive note after avoiding defeat in their respective preliminary round games in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday, September 10.
Vipers made a perfect start in the CAF Champions League with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Central African Republic’s Olympic Real de Bangui in the first leg game played in Brazzaville.
Abdul Lumala, Najib Yiga and Isa Mubiru scored the goals for visiting Vipers, who host the Bangui side for the return game on Saturday, September 17 at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
Meanwhile, BUL, who made their debut in the continental inter-club competition, drew 0-0 with Egypt’s Future FC at the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.
The game, however, ended in dramatic fashion after Future FC players engaged in a fist-fight amongst themselves moments after the referee blew the final whistle. BUL will travel to Egypt for the return leg match next weekend.
