The team is preparing ahead of the regional CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship in 2022.

Uganda will host this year’s championship which will take place at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru starting from June 1st to June 11th. Uganda is placed in A alongside Rwanda, Burundi, and Djibouti.

The Crested Cranes will kick off their campaign with a tie against Rwanda on June 1st, 2022, before playing Djibouti on game day two.

After spending a couple of weeks training in Kampala, the team has shifted camp to Njeru, where the tournament will be hosted, purposely to familiarize itself with the pitch before the final games.

Team Head coach, George William Lutalo, said they had a successful camp in Kisaasi, which helped them to assess the fitness levels of the players.

Lutalo further confirmed that the traveling team was trimmed to 32 players after assessing the performance of the players during the time they have spent in camp.

Both Uganda and Burundi will use the regional competition to get ready for the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations that will be played in July in Morocco.
