KAMPALA: Holders Vipers SC have been drawn against Kataka FC in the round of 16.
In the round of 16, Vipers defeated Kalongo United to storm the round of 16 with a 3-1 victory, while Kataka defeated Paidha Black Angels 2-0 at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.
FUFA Competitions Director, Aisha Nalule, who presided over the draws on Wednesday, says that the round of 16 matches will be played between March 20 and 24.
In the other draws, Booma FC from the Kitara Regional League will play Tipper and Sahara Football Club from Koboko in the West Nile Regional League.
Maroons FC will battle Ndejje University FC, both from the Star-Times FUFA Big League, Police FC will take on Mbale Heroes FC, Wakiso Giants FC will face UPDF FC, Soltilo Bright Stars FC will play BUL FC, and Mbarara City FC will host Iganga Young.
However, West Nile-based side Onduparaka FC will have to wait for the winner between Express FC and SC Villa in the only remaining game in the round of 32 that is yet to be played.
SC Villa advanced to the Round of 32 with a 3-0 win over Super Eagle. But the game was postponed after SC Villa players got involved in a road accident on their way to Gulu.
While conducting the draws, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, the FUFA’s third vice president, said that each team that wins the Stanbic Uganda Cup will get replica trophies for keeps.
Unlike last year, this year’s edition started in the preliminary round, and over 250 clubs from the Uganda Premier League, FUFA Big League Clubs, and regional (third division) and fourth division clubs took part.
FUFA member clubs play in the competition every year. It’s open to all non-league clubs, clubs in the two top leagues and FUFA-registered clubs playing in all five football divisions.
