SC Villa’s woes in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League escalated further with another disappointing 1-1 draw at Tooro United on Wednesday (February 16) evening.
Villa were at it again, giving away the lead in similar fashion as they conceded a penalty at Buhinga stadium in Fort Portal.
Bernard Agele put Villa in the lead after hitting the back of the net in the third minute. However, the Jogoos conceded a 56th minute penalty that was converted by Muhammad Senoga.
Despite all the efforts (on and off the field) to revive Villa’s glory, positive results still elude the Jogoos, who are now in real danger of fighting relegation. They have just 18 points from eighteen games and remain stuck in the bottom half of the 16-team table.
In the other game played on Wednesday, Arua Hill and BUL FC also shared spoils in the 2-2 draw at Barifa stadium in Arua. Simon Oketch was the hero for visiting BUL FC as he stepped to convert a penalty for the equalizing goal in the 88th minute.
The league takes a one-day break and resumes on Friday (February 18) when defending champions Express FC and current leaders Vipers SC will be in action.
Express, who sacked Wasswa Bbosa from the coaching job, begin life under James Odoch with a tricky away game against Busoga United. Odoch has been handed the task to coach the Red Eagles in an interim capacity till the end of this season.
Table leaders Vipers visit army side UPDF FC in a potential banana skin affair at Bombo Military barracks grounds. UPDF have established themselves as the league’s giant killers thus far.
