Uganda’s 2012 Olympic hero Stephen Kiprotich was on Tuesday, February 15 appointed a member of the National Council of Sports, a government body that oversees sports in the country.
Kiprotich, who won the Olympic marathon gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, is one of the 10 members appointed by sports state minister Hamson Obua to constitute the 11-member NCS management committee.
The committee is chaired by Ambrose Tashobya, the former basketball federation chairman.
Cecilia Anyakoit, Zubair Galiwango, Andrew Owiny Otengo, Dr George William Galiwango, Juliet Oyulu, Evelyn Gloria Piloya, Agatha Namirembe, Susan Anek and Derrick Namisi are the other members on the committee.
The committee has a two-year mandate.
