ARUA: Onduparaka FC supporters have mobilized in West Nile ahead of their return leg with KCCA FC due on February 3, 2022, at Bombo.
Onduparaka fans broke into the Greenlight Stadium in Arua on December 27, 2021, to contest a penalty awarded to KCCA FC by Referee Ronald Madanda. Both teams had two goals when the scuffle broke out.
The Uganda Premier League Secretariat penalized the parties and individuals involved and ordered a rematch at a neutral venue. To boost their players’ spirits, Onduparaka fans and management rallied days before the rematch.
Jamal Ahmad, the fans’ president, says that Onduparaka supporters from Mbarara, Masaka, Jinja, Lugazi, and Kampala are also in final preparations to join them in Bombo during the faceoff. He says that they are drumming up support to ensure that the team gets the maximum morale to win the game.
Meanwhile, Bosco Dudu, the technical coach of Onduparaka FC, said they are setting the team ready for this do-or-die replay, including having friendly games with teams in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the build-up. According to Dudu, the club has also acquired more than five new players in preparation for the game.
According to reports, the team has registered fans from Yumbe Koboko, Maracha, Arua, Nebbi, and Pakwach, who have all booked transport to Bombo on the D-day. The fans’ president says that four meetings have already been held in Arua and other districts to drum up support, while two more are yet to be held.
