Defending champions Express FC shared spoils with Bright Stars FC after a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League match played Friday (January 7) afternoon at Wankulukuku stadium.
George Ssenkaaba scored for Express fc in the 58th minute before Denis Omony netted a late equalizer in the 89th minute to salvage a point for the Struggling Bright Stars.
The result means Express FC finished the first round in third place on the Uganda Premier League table after collecting 27 points from 15 games.
In the other match played in Jinja on Friday, Gadaffi FC beat Wakiso Giants 1-0, thanks to a 90th-minute goal scored by Yunus Sibira for the soldier boys to walk away with three points.
Meanwhile, there will be a heavyweight clash between URA FC and KCCA FC on Saturday, January 8 at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje.
Currently, KCCA lead the table standings with 31 points from 13 matches.
On the same afternoon, second-placed Vipers host BUL FC at St Mary’s stadium, Kitende. Vipers will keenly follow events in the URA versus KCCA game, on grounds that if KCCA lose and the Venoms win to regain the top spot.
