A Uganda Cranes contingent, consisting 26 players and 14 officials, flew out of the country last night to Morocco where the national team will play Mali in the final group match of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers. The game is due on Sunday, November 14.
The Uganda Cranes, who failed to beat Kenya after settling for a goalless draw at Kitende yesterday, already have no chance of progressing to the final phase of the World Cup qualifiers. Sunday’s game is just a formality fixture.
Mali beat Rwanda (3-0) last night to win the group with 13 points and will play in the two-legged last phase of the qualifiers due next March. The five winners from that phase will represent Africa at the World Cup finals due in late 2022 in Qatar.
Currently, the Cranes have nine points from five matches. They will be out to enjoy themselves and fight for pride against Mali on Sunday.
