KAMPALA: Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, Minister of Health, has tabled the Uganda human organ donation and transplant bill, 2021, for first reading.
The Bill’s goal is to create a legal framework in Uganda to govern organ, cell, and tissue donation and transplantation.
The Bill also seeks to protect every person’s dignity and identity, as well as to ensure, without discrimination, respect for his or her integrity and other rights and fundamental freedoms in the donation and transplantation of human organs, tissues, and cells.
In accordance with Rule 129 of the Rules of Procedure, Speaker Anita Among referred the bill to the Committee on Health for review in only 45 days.
