GENEVA: People in Sudan need to work harder and put the voice of wisdom and national will above all else in order to reach a political consensus and agree on a common plan that represents all Sudanese people, helps achieve security and stability, and protects human rights, the State of Qatar said.
This came in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered by Acting Charge d’Affairs of the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar in Geneva, Jawhara Al Suwaidi, before the 49th session of the Human Rights Council during the enhanced interactive dialogue on the oral update of the High Commissioner on Sudan, under item 2.
Al Suwaidi stressed the State of Qatar’s interest and keenness to promote and protect human rights in Sudan, its stability, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as Qatar’s standing with the Sudanese people, its full support for their legitimate aspirations to achieve a comprehensive and just peace, and to promote stability and development.
Al Suwaidi was pleased that the meeting was held, and he hoped that it would help Sudan improve its human rights.
She called for redoubling the efforts made by the Office of the High Commissioner in Sudan to provide technical support to build and develop capacities and assist the Sudanese parties, within the framework of the mandate of the Office, to achieve the required progress in improving the human rights situation, taking into account the main priorities, needs, and obligations of the Sudanese government.
