The leadership of the Uganda Police Force has promoted 19 officers to various ranks of Inspector of Police, (IP), Assistant Inspector of Police, (AIP) Sergeant (SGT) and corporal (CPL).
In a statement, deputy police spokesperson Claire Nabakka said the promotions are in accordance with under Section 11(1), (a) & 13(1) (2), (b) of Police Act
Those promoted to the rank of IP from AIP are two, SGT to AIP one, from CPL to SGT two and fourteen from the rank of Constable to Corporal.
Ms Nabakka said the promotions of the subordinated officers was done in accordance with the laid down established procedures and in accordance with the Uganda Public Service standing orders (2010) selection A-G and the Police standing orders.
“The key criteria was based on transparency, openness and objectivity to ensure fairness and equity of the process. These include among other factors the following; performance, current responsibility, leadership abilities, command abilities, time spent on rank, discipline, patriotism and integrity, length of service in the force, highest level of education, career courses attended, record of service, exemplary performance among others,” she said.
