KAMPALA: The Directorate of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in close coordination with the Directorate of Forensic, have established 12 other cases that are linked to a one Charles Olimu, commonly referred to as Sipapa.
Police press statement reads, “this new development arose after his fingerprints and DNA samples, were across our Databases and scientifically matched”.
Police Spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga stressed that this implies that the accused was one of the perpetrators at the respective scenes of crime in Bugolobi, Kabalagala, Kira road, Jinja road, Kiwatule, Ntinda and Kyanja Jomayi, among others. “The crimes stretch from the year 2014 – 2022,” he added.
The task team is arranging to interrogate him on the string of alleged burglaries and theft and further submit the casefiles, to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal guidance.
Sipapa was arrested after a police investigation into a robbery that occurred at the home of Jacob Arok, a South Sudanese National, of Kawuku zone, in Bunga, on the night of August 28 – 29, 2022, led to his home, where some of the stolen items including cash worth $70,000 were recovered.
