MBALE – It was a field day for Bukedea politicians on Saturday during a marathon organised to raise funds towards the completion of the Nakaloke Centre Mosque project in Mbale City.
The event that attracted several high-ranking personnel from the East part of the country saw the Speaker of Parliament – Annet Anita Among contributing Ugx20m – which money the Kachumbala County, Bukedea district – Member of Parliament – Hon. Patrick Isiagi delivered in addition to another Ugx2m from the Clerk to Parliament – Adolf Mwesige Kasaija.
Hon. Isiagi –in his capacity as the Parliamentary Budget Committee and propriety of Amus College School contributed Ugx20m towards the same project, after completing the 5km race in 10th position, eleven places better than a slow running Chris Obore – the Director of Communications at Parliament, in the event which Haj Mansa Musa won.
Isiagi noted that although a podium finish had eluded him, he was opportunistic to make it in the subsequent editions – revealing the that contributing towards the construction of Nakaloke Centre Mosque – the second biggest Muslim’s worship house in the country after Gaddafi in Kampala, was iconic.
“Everyone serves and believes in the same creator. We need to love one another; preach unity, and love the creator at all times,” preached one of the best sports fans in Uganda’s parliament.
On the same day and event, controversial Masaka RCC Hudu Hussein donated Ugx5m, while the Keddi Foundation contributed $30,000 (about Ugx110m) towards the project.
The late Dr Hassan Galiwango started the Nakaloke Centre Mosque fundraising initiative, together with Salaam Charity under the headship of Mr Kin Kariisa, who officially announced at the event that the project’s fund mobilisation drive had had ended on Saturday after raising Ugx474m.
