KAMPALA: Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzi has been elected the new Supreme Mufti of the Kibuli-based Muslim faction.
He replaces Sheikh Kasule Ndirangwa who resigned the position in April.
The public relations officer of the Kibuli faction, Dr. Muhammad Musoke Kiggundu, said Sheikh Galabuzi has been chosen to promote unity and hard work among the Muslims.
“We should exemplify Prophet Muhammad’s values of peaceful coexistence with members of other religious beliefs and Sheikh Galabuzi exemplifies those values,” he told journalists on Monday, 22 November 2021.
Galabuzi will be deputised by Ibrahim Ntanda and Mahad Kakooza, while Abdul-Hafiz Walusimbi is the new director Sharia. The new Supreme Mufti will be sworn in on Friday.
Born on October 10, 1962, Sheikh Galabuzi attended Entebbe Koran School and Kitezi High School before joining Bilal Islamic Institute.
Galabuzi is the proprietor of Kabalagala Parents School and has served as Imam Mpereerwe Mosque for 27 years.
