The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has approved the application by Victoria University to open up a new campus in Kampala.
Prof Mary Okwakol, the NCHE Executive Director, in a May 28, 2024, letter, said Victoria University can go ahead and establish another campus on Market Street (Market Plaza building) in Kampala.
“Following the application by Victoria University to establish a campus at Market Plaza, Nakasero, Market Street, Kampala, I have the pleasure to inform you that Council at its 75th Sitting of 19th April 2024, considered and resolved that your request be granted,” the letter reads in part.
“Please, arrange to make a Statutory Licence fee deposit of Ten Million Uganda Shillings only (10,000,000) into the NCHE Other Collections Account No. 9030005961989, Stanbic Bank Kyambogo Branch, so that the Gazetting process may progress,” the letter adds.
The following ten (10) programmes have been initially accredited to the campus: Bachelor of Industrial Art and Design, Bachelor of Midwifery, Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Science with Education and Bachelor of International Business.
Others are Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies, Bachelor of Arts with Education, Bachelor of Primary Education (In-service) and Bachelor of Business Computing and Data Analytics.
“Please note that teaching of any other additional programmes at the Market Plaza Campus can only be done with prior approval of the NCHE,” NCHE said.
