All is set for the final of the fourth edition of the FUFA Drum 2023/2024 at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, between Lango and Busoga Provinces. The organizers of the competition, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), together with sponsors MTN Uganda, Nile Special, Rock Boom, and betPawa, have revealed plans ahead of the anticipated final scheduled for March 23, 2023, at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Six thousand tickets will be on sale, with one thousand five hundred tickets reserved for each province, and the remaining three thousand will be strictly sold via mobile money payment, with no tickets sold at the gates on matchday.
“Three thousand tickets at UGX 20,000 each have been earmarked for the province fans each at bulk purchase, and the remaining three thousand are to be sold at UGX 25,000 each via Momo Pay. Each province has one thousand five hundred tickets. All these tickets are to be sold starting on Monday, March 18, 2024,” says Rogers Byamukama, FUFA Drum Committee Chairman
MTN, the official sponsors and biggest supporters of football in Uganda, have promised their commitment to all Ugandans, not just the two finalists. They have facilitated the purchase of tickets at fans’ convenience through the MTN Momo app and even catered to non-smartphone users via a code *165*98#. Fans have been urged to purchase their tickets starting on Monday.
MTN will create a fan experience at viewer parks in Iganga and Lira for fans who won’t travel to Lugogo.
“MTN is the biggest supporter of football in Uganda, and our commitment stands. We have availed our platform to ease the purchase of tickets from the MOMO Pay App and using the USSD Channel *165*98#. We believe that from the comfort of your home, you can secure your seat. For the fans who can’t make it, there will be big screens in Iganga and Lira. We don’t want the people at the stadium to be the only ones enjoying themselves,” Says John Paul, MTN Uganda Sponsorship and Events Manager
Nile Special, who have been with the FUFA Drum since inception, will provide drinks at Lugogo and create various promotional stations (bars) from the two regions at the final.
“We have two ways to support. For the people who will be at the venue, we will provide cold beers. For those who can’t make it, there will be five venues in Lira and Jinja where they can watch the match live with refreshments. We will also partner with MTN at their watch party. We are made of Uganda, and we implore everyone to come and support us,” says Douglas Karema, Trade Marketing Executive, Nile Special
BetPawa Uganda, which continues to support FUFA in growing talent and football in Uganda, has paid more than twenty million Shillings in winning bonuses and promised to do the same at the final.
“We are very excited to be here to continue supporting FUFA. We have also paid over $20 million in locker room bonuses for the teams in the quarterfinal stage and look forward to supporting them in the final,” Says Ivy Igunduura, BetPawa Country Marketing Manager.
