The Chief Justice, Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny – Dollo, on Tuesday presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Supreme Court Justice, Lady Justice Elizabeth Musoke, as a member of the Judicial Service Commission at the Judiciary Headquarters.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, Justice Benjamin Kabito and the Chief Registrar HW Sarah Langa Siu and Judiciary Commissioner Human Resource Commissioner, Ms Apophia N. Tumwine.
Also present were the Commission’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Rose Nassali Lukwago, Commissioners; Ms Ruth Sebatindira, Ms Norah Matovu Muwanika, Mr Johnson Bitarabeho, Mr Jimmy Okello and Mr Lubega Wagwa Badru.
“I congratulate Justice Musoke and the members of the Commission now that the house is full. I am confident that she will add value to the Commission because she is competent, well-composed and dependable because at the time of her appointment, she has been the Chair of the Judiciary Disciplinary Committee,” CJ Alfonse C Owiny Dollo said.
“I thank the President, HE Yoweri Museveni for trusting me to serve as a member of the JSC. It is not a small thing. I pledge to execute my work with due deligence, without fear or favour; I will not be influenced in any manner that is not expected of me,” Justice Elizabeth Musoke said.
Lady Justice Musoke was appointed by the President as a representative of the Judiciary on the Commission. She replaces the Late Lady Justice Stella Arach Amoko, who represented the Judiciary on the Commission.
The Judicial Service Commission is a Constitutional body established under Article 146 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995, whose mandate is to recruit judicial officers and regulate their conduct.
The Commission is composed of nine members with powers to facilitate improving the efficiency and effectiveness of Justice administration in the country.
The ceremony is being moderated by the Judiciary Public Relations Officer, HW James Ereemye Jumire Mawanda.
