The lifeless body of 42-year-old Mbaju Sindan, an employee of Serena Hotel in Kampala and a resident of Kighenge in Kitabu Sub County, has been recovered from River Nyamugasani in Kasese District. Mbaju drowned in Nyamugasani River on Sunday evening while attempting to cross.
She was on leave at the time of the incident. After hours of searching, local residents managed to retrieve her body in Rwentutu village in Lake Katwe Sub County on Monday. Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Police spokesperson, confirmed that the body has been handed over to the family for a dignified burial.
Police have urged the general public to exercise caution during this period of heavy rainfall, as major rivers and tributaries are experiencing increased water levels.
