Fresh details have emerged about the man who was found stabbed to death inside a house in Nakawa early this week. The deceased has been identified as Simon Kaparaga.
The deceased, according to information so far collected by police, was stabbed to death by his close friend identified as Hakim with the motive of stealing his newly bought Bajaj motorcycle. Hakim approached Kaparaga on Wednesday last week. The suspect asked the deceased to lend him his motorcycle UFR 463 L for a self-ride.
According to information that has been provided by the deceased’s close friends, Hakim, returned days later without the motorcycle claiming that he had left it in a private parking in Kisaasi. The suspect added that his wife was not at home and requested to spend a night at Kaparaga’s house.
“Hakim asked Simon to spend a night at his home so that he would bring the motorcycle in the morning. The deceased accepted and they entered the house at around midnight. That was the last time Simon was seen alive,” the deceased’s brother Joel Kaparaga narrates based on witnesses’ accounts.
Simon was renting in Tuba zone, Nakawa Division, and his brother Joel became suspicious after failing to reach him on his known telephone contacts. Joel said when he reached his brother’s home, it was locked and he thought he had gone for his usual errands.
“What perturbed me was the fact that his telephone lines continued to be off. We decided to search for him with his friends and my friends. We later opted to break the house and we found his body lying in a pool of blood,” Joel said in a police statement.
Police in Nakawa and Jinja Road visited the scene and examined Simon’s body which had deep cuts on the chest and head. Ronald Acaye the Jinja road CID officer and other officers have confirmed that a sharp object which was used to stab Simon to death was found inside the house.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, said a hunt for Hakim the prime suspect is on.
